5-Minute Caramel Walnuts Recipe
5-Minute Caramel Walnuts Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup walnuts
- ¼ cup + 1 tablespoon packed golden brown sugar (avoid using dark brown sugar)
- ¼ cup water
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- ⅛ teaspoon + 2 pinches of salt
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Plate:
Line a dinner plate (or any heatproof plate) with a piece of parchment paper. Set it aside for later. -
Cooking the Walnuts:
In a medium-sized non-stick skillet, combine all the ingredients except for the extra two pinches of salt.
Place the skillet over high heat and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. In the final minute, reduce the heat to medium and stir constantly until all the liquid evaporates. The walnuts should become darker, glossy, and start clumping together. -
Check for Doneness:
Ensure all the liquid has evaporated before removing the skillet from the heat. This is crucial to achieving the perfect caramel coating. -
Transfer and Cool:
Immediately transfer the walnuts onto the prepared parchment paper, scraping off any remaining caramel from the skillet. Spread the walnuts out into a single layer.
Sprinkle the reserved two pinches of salt evenly over the nuts. Allow the walnuts to cool to room temperature, then break them apart using your fingers. -
Storage:
Store the caramel walnuts in an airtight container. They’ll stay fresh for several days—if they last that long!
Notes:
- A non-stick skillet is essential for this recipe.
- If you are using a smaller skillet, the cooking time may increase by 30-45 seconds.
Enjoy your delicious caramel walnuts!
