German Potato Pancakes Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- ¼ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon pepper
- 6 medium potatoes, peeled and shredded
- ½ cup finely chopped onion
- ¼ cup vegetable oil
Instructions:
- Prepare the Mixture: In a large bowl, beat the eggs thoroughly. Add the flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper, and continue to mix until the ingredients are well combined. Stir in the shredded potatoes and finely chopped onion until everything is evenly distributed.
- Cooking the Pancakes: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, drop heaping tablespoonfuls of the potato mixture into the skillet. Use the back of a spoon to press each portion down into a flat pancake shape.
- Frying: Cook each pancake for about 3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crisp. Make sure to flip them carefully to avoid breaking them.
- Draining Excess Oil: Once cooked, transfer the pancakes to a plate lined with paper towels to drain off any excess oil.
- Serving: Serve the German potato pancakes hot, either as a side dish or with your favorite toppings, such as applesauce, sour cream, or smoked salmon.
These delicious and crispy German potato pancakes are perfect for breakfast, lunch, or even as a snack. Enjoy the authentic flavors with a modern twist!
