Savory Slow-Cooked Meatloaf: A Family Favorite

This meatloaf recipe is a surefire hit—so much so that my husband can’t get enough of it!

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds of ground beef, or a blend of beef and pork
  • ½ cup of grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup of breadcrumbs
  • ¼ cup of milk
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons of fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon of dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon of dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • ½ teaspoon of black pepper
  • ½ cup of marinara sauce (optional, for topping)

Preparation Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, Parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, and milk.
  2. Incorporate the finely chopped onion, minced garlic, beaten egg, fresh parsley, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until the ingredients are fully integrated.
  3. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a medium-sized slow cooker.
  4. For enhanced flavor and moisture, you may spread a thin layer of marinara sauce over the top of the meatloaf.
  5. Cover and cook on low heat for 6-8 hours or on high heat for 3-4 hours, ensuring the meatloaf reaches an internal temperature of 160°F.
  6. Once fully cooked, carefully remove the meatloaf from the slow cooker and allow it to rest for a few minutes before slicing.
  7. Serve warm, garnished with additional fresh parsley if desired.
