Chicken Parmesan Grilled Cheese Sandwich


Chicken Parmesan Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Ingredients:

  • 2 slices of bread (sourdough or any sturdy bread of your choice)
  • 1 cup cooked chicken breast, shredded or sliced
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Chicken: If not already done, cook the chicken breast and shred or slice it. Leftover chicken can work well, or cook it fresh, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
  2. Assemble the Sandwich:
    • Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on one side of each slice of bread.
    • Place the shredded chicken on top of the sauce on one bread slice.
    • Sprinkle Parmesan cheese and mozzarella cheese over the chicken.
    • For added flavor, you may sprinkle dried basil and garlic powder over the cheese.
    • Place the second bread slice on top, with the sauce side facing down.
  3. Cook the Sandwich:
    • Heat a skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil or butter, adding more if a crispier crust is desired.
    • Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted, approximately 3-4 minutes per side. Press gently with a spatula for even grilling.
  4. Serve: Remove the sandwich from the skillet and let it cool slightly before slicing. Serve hot for the best flavor.
