Steakhouse Burger Sloppy Joes Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup chicken broth (from a 32-oz carton)
- 2 tablespoons steak sauce
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 8 oz mushrooms, thinly sliced
- 1 cup white onion, coarsely chopped (from 1 small onion)
- 1 teaspoon Montreal steak seasoning
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 8 regular-size burger buns, toasted if desired
- 1/2 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese (2 oz)
Steps to Prepare
- In a medium bowl, mix the chicken broth, steak sauce, and Dijon mustard. Set aside.
- Heat a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the ground beef for 7 to 8 minutes, stirring frequently, until browned. Drain excess fat and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt the butter. Add the mushrooms, onion, and Montreal steak seasoning. Cook for 7 to 8 minutes until onions are translucent and mushrooms are browned.
- Sprinkle the flour over the vegetables and cook for 1 to 2 minutes until the flour browns slightly and smells nutty.
- Return the cooked beef to the skillet. Stir in the broth mixture and bring to a simmer. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Spoon about 1/3 cup of the beef mixture onto the bottom half of each burger bun. Top with 1 tablespoon of shredded sharp Cheddar cheese and place the top bun.
Tips for the Best Sloppy Joes
- Toast the burger buns for added flavor and texture.
- Try different cheeses, like smoked Gouda or Swiss, for a unique twist.
