Ingredients
For the Bread:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Cinnamon Filling:
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
For the Icing:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a standard loaf pan and set it aside.
2. Prepare the Batter:
In a medium-sized bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract until fully blended.
Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
3. Make the Cinnamon Filling:
In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and ground cinnamon until thoroughly combined.
4. Layer the Batter and Filling:
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
- Sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the batter.
- Add the remaining batter on top and gently spread it to cover.
- Finish by sprinkling the rest of the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.
- Use a knife to gently swirl the cinnamon filling into the batter for a marbled effect.
5. Bake:
Bake the bread for 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
6. Prepare the Icing:
While the bread is baking, make the icing by mixing powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth. If the icing is too thick, add a bit more milk until it reaches a pourable consistency.
7. Add the Icing and Serve:
Once the bread has cooled slightly, drizzle the icing generously over the top. Slice and serve warm for the ultimate comforting treat.
Baking Tips
- Don’t Overmix: Overmixing the batter can lead to a dense texture. Stir gently until just combined.
- Swirl with Care: Avoid over-blending the cinnamon filling to maintain the marbled appearance.
- Serve Warm: This bread is best served warm, allowing the icing to slightly melt for an extra indulgent experience.
