Quick Maple Bars Recipe
These quick maple bars are an easy and irresistible breakfast treat. Made with convenient refrigerated biscuit dough and topped with a rich homemade maple glaze, they’re the perfect way to start your day or satisfy a sweet craving.
Ingredients
For the Bars:
- 1 (16-ounce) tube buttermilk-style refrigerated biscuits
- 3 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
For the Maple Glaze:
- ¾ cup packed light brown sugar
- 5 tablespoons salted butter
- 4 tablespoons milk
- 1½ tablespoons light corn syrup
- 1 tablespoon maple extract
- 1¾ cups confectioners’ sugar (powdered sugar)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Biscuits
- Open the tube of refrigerated biscuits and separate them.
- Flatten and shape each biscuit into a rectangle using a rolling pin or your hands.
2. Heat the Oil
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
3. Fry the Biscuits
- Fry each biscuit in the hot oil for 1–2 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
4. Make the Maple Glaze
- In a saucepan, combine brown sugar, butter, milk, and corn syrup.
- Cook over medium heat until the mixture bubbles and the sugar is dissolved.
- Remove from heat and stir in the maple extract.
- Gradually whisk in the powdered sugar until smooth.
5. Glaze the Bars
- While the bars are still slightly warm, dip the tops into the glaze or spoon it over them.
- Place on a wire rack to set.
