Dutch Apple Bread Recipe

Dutch Apple Bread

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tsp butter
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp yeast
  • 1/2 cup diced apple (peeled)
  • 1/3 cup walnuts or crushed walnuts

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Yeast Mixture:

    • In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup of warm water with 1 teaspoon of sugar.
    • Add the yeast to the warm water and let it sit for 10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Mix the Dough:

    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, butter, and the remaining 1/2 cup of water.
    • Knead the ingredients together until well incorporated.
  3. Activate the Yeast:

    • Once the yeast is activated, add it to the dough mixture.
    • Knead the dough until it is smooth. Adjust the consistency with additional water if needed.
  4. Prepare the Apple and Nut Mixture:

    • In a separate bowl, mix together the diced apples, cinnamon, brown sugar, and walnuts.
    • Allow the mixture to sit for half an hour to let the flavors meld.
  5. Combine Mixtures:

    • After the resting period, combine the apple and nut mixture with the dough, ensuring even distribution.
  6. Prepare for Baking:

    • Grease a bread mold with oil and transfer the dough into the mold.
  7. Bake:

    • Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
    • Bake the bread for approximately 40 minutes or until it is golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Enjoy:
