Apple Butter Recipe
Ingredients:
- 6 1/2 pounds apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Place the apples in a slow cooker.
- Add the granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and vanilla extract to the slow cooker. Mix well to ensure the apples are evenly coated.
- Cook on low heat for approximately 10 hours, stirring every couple of hours. The apple butter should reach a thick consistency and turn a dark brown color.
- If a smoother texture is desired, use a blender to puree the apple butter until it is smooth.
- Once cooled, cover and refrigerate the apple butter for up to two weeks. Alternatively, you can freeze it in small containers for longer storage.
Enjoy your homemade apple butter as a spread on toast, a topping for pancakes, or even as an ingredient in your favorite recipes!
