Ground Beef Grilled Cheese Sandwich
Ground Beef Grilled Cheese Sandwich
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 8 slices of bread (sourdough, white, or your choice)
- 8 slices cheddar cheese
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- Optional: pickles, mustard, or other favorite burger toppings
Directions:
Step 1: Cook the Ground Beef
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is translucent. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat and set aside.
Step 2: Prepare the Bread
Butter one side of each slice of bread. Place 4 slices, butter side down, on a clean surface.
Step 3: Assemble the Sandwiches
On each of the 4 slices of bread, layer one slice of cheddar cheese, a generous portion of the cooked ground beef mixture, another slice of cheddar cheese, and top with the remaining slices of bread, butter side up.
Step 4: Cook the Sandwiches
Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place the assembled sandwiches in the skillet (cook in batches if necessary). Grill until the bread is golden brown and crispy, and the cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes per side. Press down lightly with a spatula for even browning.
Step 5: Serve
Remove the sandwiches from the skillet and let them rest for a minute before cutting them in half. Serve warm with your favorite sides or condiments.
