Apple Butter Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 6 1/2 pounds apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Place the apples in a slow cooker.
  2. Add the granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and vanilla extract to the slow cooker. Mix well to ensure the apples are evenly coated.
  3. Cook on low heat for approximately 10 hours, stirring every couple of hours. The apple butter should reach a thick consistency and turn a dark brown color.
  4. If a smoother texture is desired, use a blender to puree the apple butter until it is smooth.
  5. Once cooled, cover and refrigerate the apple butter for up to two weeks. Alternatively, you can freeze it in small containers for longer storage.

Enjoy your homemade apple butter as a spread on toast, a topping for pancakes, or even as an ingredient in your favorite recipes!
