Auntie’s Classic Biscuit Recipe
I never imagined I’d stumble upon my aunt’s old recipe, but I did, and it’s even better than I remembered!
Ingredients:
- 1 large can (16.3 oz) Pillsbury Grands Classic Southern Style Biscuits
- 8 cubes of mozzarella cheese (1-inch each)
- 3 tablespoons melted butter
- 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Marinara sauce for dipping (optional)
Preparation:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a baking sheet.
- Cut each biscuit into eight pieces.
- Flatten each biscuit slightly with your fingertips. Place a cube of mozzarella cheese in the center of each biscuit piece.
- Seal the biscuit around the cheese by pinching the edges together, ensuring the cheese is fully enclosed.
- Arrange the dough balls seam side down on the prepared baking sheet.
- In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with garlic powder and Italian seasoning.
- Brush the garlic butter mixture over each biscuit and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbling.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm with marinara sauce for dipping, if desired.
Variations and Tips:
- For a spicier twist, consider using pepper jack or cheddar cheese.
- Add a meaty element by incorporating pepperoni or cooked bacon.
- For a sweeter variation, substitute cinnamon sugar butter for the garlic butter and use a chocolate square or marshmallow instead of cheese. Note that this may require slight adjustments to the baking time.
