Description

This creamy casserole features tender-crisp asparagus coated in a smooth, cheesy sauce
with savory notes from Parmesan and seasoning. The optional crunchy topping adds texture,
creating a comforting and well-balanced side dish that complements many main courses.

Tips

  • Choose fresh, firm asparagus for the best flavor and texture.
  • Try different cheeses such as Gruyère, Swiss, or Monterey Jack for variety.
  • Add cooked bacon bits or sautéed mushrooms for extra depth of flavor.
  • For a lighter version, replace heavy cream with additional milk.

Correction

  • Too watery: Drain asparagus thoroughly after blanching.
  • Sauce too thick: Add a splash of warm milk and stir until smooth.
  • Cheese separating: Lower heat before adding cheese and stir gently.
  • Overcooked asparagus: Do not over-blanch before baking.
