Delicious Slow Cooker Pork Chops with Mushroom Sauce
This recipe is a favorite in our household. The combination of tender pork chops and a rich, creamy mushroom sauce always leaves everyone asking for seconds! It’s easy to prepare, and the slow cooker does most of the work, making it a perfect meal for busy days.
Ingredients:
- 4 boneless pork chops
- 1 can (10.5 oz) of condensed mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup grated Swiss cheese
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Preparation:
- Sear the Pork Chops: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Season the pork chops with salt and pepper, then brown them on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Prepare the Sauce: In the crockpot, combine the mushroom soup, chicken broth, Swiss cheese, onion, garlic, and dried thyme. Stir well to blend all the flavors together.
- Slow Cook the Pork: Place the seared pork chops into the slow cooker, ensuring they are well coated with the sauce mixture.
- Cook Low and Slow: Cover with a lid and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or until the pork chops are tender and fully cooked through.
- Serve: Before serving, stir the sauce and adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper if needed.
Tips and Variations:
- For a deeper, nuttier flavor, substitute Swiss cheese with Gruyère cheese.
- If you prefer a bit of heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
- To make this dish gluten-free, use a gluten-free cream of mushroom soup.
- Enhance the nutrition by adding extra vegetables like sliced mushrooms or bell peppers to the slow cooker.
This dish pairs perfectly with mashed potatoes, rice, or roasted vegetables. Enjoy the rich flavors and the comfort of a slow-cooked meal!
