Fluffy Chocolate Cake Recipe
This fluffy chocolate cake is a perfect treat for any occasion. Its rich flavor and light texture make it irresistible, and it’s topped with a smooth chocolate buttercream frosting for an extra indulgent touch.
Ingredients:
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 2 cups white sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs (55-65g / 2 oz each)
- 1 cup milk (low-fat or full-fat)
- 1/2 cup vegetable or canola oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
For the Chocolate Buttercream Frosting:
- 1 1/2 batches of Chocolate Buttercream Frosting (adjust the quantity using a recipe scaler if needed)
Instructions:
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and line two 9-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, and salt. Stir until well combined.
- Add Wet Ingredients: Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry mixture. Beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes until smooth.
- Add Boiling Water: Gradually stir in the boiling water to the batter. The batter will be thin, but this is normal. Continue mixing until smooth.
- Bake the Cake: Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Prepare the Frosting: While the cakes are cooling, prepare the chocolate buttercream frosting.
- Assemble the Cake: Once the cakes are completely cooled, spread a layer of chocolate buttercream frosting on top of one cake. Place the second cake on top and frost the entire outside of the cake with the remaining buttercream.
- Serve and Enjoy: Slice and enjoy your fluffy, moist chocolate cake!
