Ingredients

  • 12 oz (340 g) pasta (spaghetti, linguine, or fettuccine)
  • 1 lb (450 g) shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup reserved pasta cooking water
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • Juice of ½ lemon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water according to package instructions until al dente.
Reserve ¼ cup of pasta water, then drain.
  2. Season shrimp with salt and black pepper.
  3. Heat olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add shrimp in a single layer and cook for 2–3 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove shrimp
    from skillet and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, add remaining butter and minced garlic. Sauté for 30–60 seconds until fragrant,
being careful not to brown the garlic.
  6. Stir in red pepper flakes if using.
  7. Add cooked pasta and reserved pasta water to the skillet, tossing to coat.
  8. Return shrimp to the skillet and mix gently.
  9. Remove from heat, add Parmesan cheese, parsley, and lemon juice. Toss well.
  10. Serve immediately with extra Parmesan if desired.

Description

This Garlic Butter Shrimp Pasta is rich, aromatic, and irresistibly comforting. The buttery garlic sauce
clings beautifully to the pasta, while the shrimp add a tender, savory bite. A hint of lemon and fresh
herbs balances the richness, making the dish satisfying without feeling heavy.

Tips

  • Use fresh shrimp for the best flavor, but frozen shrimp work well if fully thawed.
  • Do not overcook the shrimp; they become rubbery quickly.
  • Add spinach or cherry tomatoes for extra color and nutrition.
  • For a creamier version, stir in ¼ cup of heavy cream at the end.
  • Always reserve some pasta water to help loosen the sauce.

Correction

  • If the garlic browns too quickly, lower the heat immediately to avoid bitterness.
  • If the pasta seems dry, add more reserved pasta water a little at a time.
  • Taste before serving and adjust seasoning with salt, pepper, or lemon juice.

Enjoy

Enjoy this Garlic Butter Shrimp Pasta hot and fresh, paired with a crisp green salad or warm garlic bread.
It’s a restaurant-quality meal made easily at home—perfect for sharing and savoring every bite.
