Homemade Beef Lo Mein

Ingredients:

  • Chuck roast
  • Broccoli crowns
  • Carrots (thinly sliced)
  • Oil
  • 2-3 tbsp Corn starch
  • Fresh Lo Mein noodles (found in the refrigerated section at local Asian stores; spaghetti noodles can be used as a substitute, cooked according to package instructions)
  • 2 tsp Sesame oil
  • 2 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 tsp Sugar
  • 3 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp Ginger (minced)
  • 3 tbsp Oyster sauce
  • 2 tbsp Hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp Sweet soy sauce

Directions:

  1. Thinly slice the beef into strips and mix well in a bowl with corn starch. Set aside.
  2. Prepare your vegetables by cutting them and having them ready for cooking.
  3. In a bowl, mix oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sweet soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Set aside.
  4. Heat a pan on medium-high heat until it starts to smoke slightly. Add a couple of tablespoons of oil and cook the beef for about 3-5 minutes until seared. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
  5. Add two more tablespoons of oil to the pan, followed by the garlic, ginger, and all the vegetables. Stir-fry on medium heat until tender.
  6. Return the noodles and beef to the pan, mixing well from the bottom up for about a minute. Cover the pan for a couple of minutes to let the flavors meld.
  7. Add the sauce mixture to the pan, stir well, and stir-fry for another minute.
  8. Plate your Beef Lo Mein and enjoy!
