My Famous Lasagna Recipe
Lasagna is a classic dish that brings comfort and flavor to any meal. Here’s my special take on it, using a blend of rich cheeses and savory ingredients. This recipe is perfect for a family dinner or special occasion, with layers of seasoned meat, creamy cheese, and tender pasta.
Ingredients:
- 2 lb ground sirloin
- 24 oz meat-flavored spaghetti sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp salt
- 1/2 Tbsp pepper
- 1/2 Tbsp garlic powder
- 12 lasagna noodles, cooked
- 8 oz sour cream
- 8 oz small curd cottage cheese
- 6 oz cream cheese, at room temperature
- 6 Tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) to get it ready for baking.
- Cook the ground sirloin: In a large skillet, brown the ground sirloin over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain the excess fat. Add the spaghetti sauce, salt, pepper, and garlic powder to the meat and stir well. Simmer for 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to blend.
- Prepare the cheese mixture: In a medium bowl, combine sour cream, cottage cheese, and cream cheese. Mix until smooth.
- Assemble the lasagna: In a large baking dish, start by spreading a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom. Layer 4 cooked lasagna noodles on top. Spread half of the cheese mixture over the noodles, followed by a layer of the meat sauce. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of Parmesan cheese over the sauce. Add a layer of sharp cheddar and mozzarella cheese.
- Repeat the layers: Add another layer of 4 noodles, the remaining cheese mixture, and more meat sauce. Sprinkle again with Parmesan, cheddar, and mozzarella cheese.
- Final layer: For the top layer, place the last 4 noodles, spread the remaining meat sauce, and cover with the rest of the shredded cheeses.
- Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown on top.
- Cool and serve: Let the lasagna sit for about 10 minutes before cutting into it. This will help it hold its shape when served.
