Nestlé Toll House Chocolate Cake

Introduction

The Nestlé Toll House Chocolate Cake is a decadent dessert inspired by the iconic Toll House chocolate chip cookie recipe.
Rich, moist, and packed with chocolatey goodness, this cake is perfect for celebrations, potlucks, or whenever you crave a comforting homemade treat.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup Nestlé Toll House semi-sweet chocolate chips (plus extra for topping)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup hot water or brewed coffee

Optional Frosting

  • 1 cup Nestlé Toll House chocolate chips
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Melt 1 cup chocolate chips in microwave until smooth. Let cool slightly.
  3. Cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla and sour cream.
  4. In another bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet mixture. Stir in melted chocolate and hot water (or coffee) until batter is smooth.
  6. Divide batter between pans. Bake 30–35 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  8. For frosting: Heat cream, pour over chocolate chips and butter, stir until smooth. Let thicken before spreading.
  9. Assemble cake with frosting between layers and on top. Garnish with extra chocolate chips.

Description

This cake is a chocolate lover’s dream. Moist, soft, and deeply flavored with cocoa and semi-sweet chocolate, it’s enhanced with sour cream for richness.
Finished with a glossy ganache and extra chocolate chips, it’s nostalgic, indulgent, and simply irresistible.

Tips

  • Use brewed coffee instead of water for richer flavor.
  • Substitute Greek yogurt for sour cream for a lighter option.
  • Check at 30 minutes to avoid overbaking.
  • Add chopped nuts for a crunch, like the classic Toll House cookies.
  • Fold in extra chocolate chips for a double-chocolate effect.

Correction

Some recipes only use cocoa powder, but adding melted chocolate chips makes the cake fudgier.
Also, ensure melted chocolate is cooled before mixing with eggs to avoid curdling.

Enjoy

Serve your Nestlé Toll House Chocolate Cake with milk, vanilla ice cream, or whipped cream.
Whether for a celebration or a cozy treat, this cake celebrates Nestlé’s timeless chocolate tradition.
