Oven-Fried Potatoes and Onions Recipe
Ingredients
- 5 pounds red potatoes, thinly sliced or cubed
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 6 slices of bacon, chopped
- ½ cup butter, cut into small pieces
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 9×13-inch casserole dish to prevent sticking.
- Assemble the Dish: Spread the sliced or cubed potatoes evenly across the greased casserole dish. Sprinkle the chopped onion and bacon over the potatoes, then dot the entire surface with pieces of butter. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cover the dish with foil.
- Bake: Place the covered dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes.
- Broil for Crispiness: After 45 minutes, remove the foil and give the potatoes a stir. Set the oven to the broiler setting. Broil for about 5 minutes, stirring every minute or so to ensure even browning, until the potatoes are crispy and golden.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and serve immediately while hot.
