Peach Cinnamon Rolls with Vanilla Glaze
Ingredients
For the Dough:
- 3 1/4 cups (405g) all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup (120ml) milk
- 1/4 cup (60ml) water
- 1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter
- 1 large egg
For the Filling:
- 1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 1/2 cups fresh peaches, peeled and diced (approximately 2-3 peaches)
For the Glaze:
- 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
- 2-3 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
Preparing the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, the yeast, sugar, and salt.
- In a small saucepan, gently heat the milk, water, and butter until the butter melts. Ensure the mixture is warm but not hot.
- Pour the warmed milk mixture into the flour mixture and stir until just combined.
- Add the egg and beat the mixture until it is smooth.
- Gradually incorporate the remaining flour until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour, or until it has doubled in size.
Preparing the Filling:
- In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and ground cinnamon.
- Roll the risen dough into a 15×9 inch rectangle.
- Evenly spread the softened butter over the dough.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the butter.
- Evenly distribute the diced peaches over the cinnamon-sugar layer.
Assembling the Rolls:
- Starting from the long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log.
- Cut the log into 12 equal slices and arrange them in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
Second Rise:
- Cover the rolls with a cloth and allow them to rise in a warm place for another 30-45 minutes, or until they have nearly doubled in size.
Baking:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
Preparing the Glaze:
- In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until the glaze is smooth and pourable.
- Drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls.
