Perfectly Baked Sweet Potatoes: A Delicious Revelation

Recently, I had the pleasure of enjoying perfectly baked sweet potatoes at a friend’s house, and they were nothing short of exceptional. This experience made me realize that I had been preparing them incorrectly all along.

Ingredients:

  • 4 medium-sized sweet potatoes, cut crosswise
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • Optional seasonings: dried thyme
  • Optional toppings: butter, cinnamon, brown sugar, marshmallows

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Rinse the sweet potatoes under running water to remove any dirt and dry them thoroughly. Cut them crosswise into rounds.
  2. Arrange the sweet potato slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Drizzle olive oil evenly over each slice, ensuring a thorough coating.
  3. Sprinkle sea salt and ground black pepper evenly over the sweet potatoes. Add optional dried thyme if desired.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 45-60 minutes, or until the sweet potatoes are tender and easily pierced with a fork. The edges should be caramelized.
  5. Remove the sweet potatoes from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes.
