Pioneer Woman’s Apple Dumplings Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 large apple (Fuji or any tart apple works best)
- 1 can Pillsbury Crescent dough
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 3/4 cup (6 oz) 7-Up or any similar soda (half a can)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.
- Peel the apple and cut it into 8-10 wedges. Set aside.
- Separate the crescent roll dough into individual triangles. Wrap each apple wedge with the dough, starting from the wider end. Pinch the edges to seal.
- Place the dough-wrapped apple wedges into the prepared baking dish.
- In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add sugar and cinnamon, stirring until it thickens. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Pour the cinnamon mixture over the dumplings, coating them evenly.
- Pour the 7-Up around the edges of the dumplings in the dish.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the dumplings are golden brown.
- Allow the dumplings to cool slightly before serving. Serve warm, ideally with vanilla ice cream.
