Ingredients:

  • 1 large apple (Fuji or any tart apple works best)
  • 1 can Pillsbury Crescent dough
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 3/4 cup (6 oz) 7-Up or any similar soda (half a can)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.
  2. Peel the apple and cut it into 8-10 wedges. Set aside.
  3. Separate the crescent roll dough into individual triangles. Wrap each apple wedge with the dough, starting from the wider end. Pinch the edges to seal.
  4. Place the dough-wrapped apple wedges into the prepared baking dish.
  5. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add sugar and cinnamon, stirring until it thickens. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Pour the cinnamon mixture over the dumplings, coating them evenly.
  7. Pour the 7-Up around the edges of the dumplings in the dish.
  8. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the dumplings are golden brown.
  9. Allow the dumplings to cool slightly before serving. Serve warm, ideally with vanilla ice cream.
