  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp oil or butter (for cooking)

For the Savory Sauce / Gravy

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the patties: Combine ground beef, diced onion, egg, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire
sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently and form into oval-shaped patties.

cook for 4–5 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. Make the gravy: In the same skillet, melt butter. Add flour and whisk to form a roux. Cook
for 1 minute. Slowly pour in beef broth while stirring. Add Worcestershire sauce and mushrooms. Simmer until
    slightly thickened.

rice, or noodles for a complete and hearty dinner.

Tips

  • Use 80/20 beef for juicier patties.
  • Do not overmix the meat mixture.
  • Add sliced onions during the simmer for extra flavor.
  • Double the gravy if you want it extra saucy.
  • Add a splash of cream for richer gravy.

Correction (Common Mistakes)

  • If patties fall apart, add more breadcrumbs or a bit more egg.
  • If the gravy is too thin, simmer longer or add a pinch of flour.
  • If the gravy is too thick, add more beef broth.
  • Avoid pressing the patties while cooking to keep them juicy.
