Savory Slow-Cooked Meatloaf: A Family Favorite
This meatloaf recipe is a surefire hit—so much so that my husband can’t get enough of it!
Ingredients
- 1 ½ pounds of ground beef, or a blend of beef and pork
- ½ cup of grated Parmesan cheese
- ½ cup of breadcrumbs
- ¼ cup of milk
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 tablespoons of fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tablespoon of dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon of dried basil
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- ½ teaspoon of black pepper
- ½ cup of marinara sauce (optional, for topping)
Preparation Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, Parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, and milk.
- Incorporate the finely chopped onion, minced garlic, beaten egg, fresh parsley, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until the ingredients are fully integrated.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a medium-sized slow cooker.
- For enhanced flavor and moisture, you may spread a thin layer of marinara sauce over the top of the meatloaf.
- Cover and cook on low heat for 6-8 hours or on high heat for 3-4 hours, ensuring the meatloaf reaches an internal temperature of 160°F.
- Once fully cooked, carefully remove the meatloaf from the slow cooker and allow it to rest for a few minutes before slicing.
- Serve warm, garnished with additional fresh parsley if desired.

- Gluten-Free Adaptation: Use gluten-free breadcrumbs or ground oats in place of traditional breadcrumbs.
- Spicy Twist: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a subtle kick of heat.
