Slow Cooker Beef Brisket Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 Beef bouillon cube
  • 4-5 lbs. Beef brisket (fat trimmed)
  • ½ cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 cup Water
  • 3 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce

For the rub:

  • 1 tsp. Cumin
  • 2 Tbsp. Brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. Ground mustard
  • 2 Tbsp. Paprika
  • 1 tsp. Black pepper
  • 2 tsp. Onion powder
  • 2 tsp. Salt
  • 2 tsp. Garlic powder
  • ½ tsp. Cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Rub:
    • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
    • In a small bowl, mix together all the rub ingredients (cumin, brown sugar, ground mustard, paprika, black pepper, onion powder, salt, garlic powder, and cinnamon).
    • Press the rub mixture firmly over all sides of the beef brisket to ensure it is well coated.
  2. Roast the Brisket:
    • Place the seasoned brisket on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
    • Bake in the oven for 30 minutes, allowing the brisket to develop a flavorful crust.
  3. Slow Cooking:
    • While the brisket is roasting, prepare the slow cooker. In a bowl, whisk together the beef bouillon cube, water, BBQ sauce, and Worcestershire sauce.
    • Remove the brisket from the oven and place it in the slow cooker.
    • Pour the sauce mixture over the brisket in the slow cooker.
  4. Cook:
    • Cover the slow cooker and cook the brisket on low for 8-10 hours, ensuring it becomes tender and juicy. Turn the meat halfway through the cooking time to ensure even cooking.
  5. Finishing Touches:
    • Once fully cooked, remove the brisket from the slow cooker and shred it with two forks.
    • Brush the shredded beef with additional BBQ sauce to enhance the flavor.
    • Optional: Broil the shredded brisket in the oven for a few minutes to caramelize the BBQ sauce, adding a smoky finish.
