Description
This casserole is creamy, cheesy, and full of smoky sausage flavor. The pierogies become soft and tender
while absorbing the savory sauce. It’s a comforting one-pot meal that feels homemade but requires very little
prep work. Perfect for weeknight dinners, potlucks, or cozy family meals.
Tips
- Add cooked bacon bits for extra smoky flavor.
- Stir gently halfway through cooking if possible for even heating.
- Swap cream of mushroom for cream of chicken if preferred.
- For a crispy top, transfer to a baking dish and broil for 2–3 minutes after slow cooking.
- Add sautéed mushrooms or bell peppers for extra vegetables.
Correction & Helpful Notes
- Do not thaw pierogies before cooking; use them frozen to prevent mushiness.
- Avoid overcooking, as the cheese sauce can become too thick.
- If the casserole seems too thick, stir in a splash of warm milk before serving.
