Southern Fried Salmon Patties Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 (14 3/4 ounce) canned salmon
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup cornmeal
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise

Directions:

  1. Prepare the Salmon: Open the can of salmon and drain it thoroughly. Place the drained salmon in a mixing bowl and flake it evenly with a fork.
  2. Combine Ingredients: Add the finely chopped onion, cornmeal, flour, egg, and mayonnaise to the salmon. Stir the mixture until all ingredients are well blended.
  3. Shape the Patties: Shape the mixture into patties, making them about the size of an average burger or smaller, according to your preference.
  4. Cook the Patties: Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, place the patties in the skillet. Cook them until they are browned on each side, turning them once during cooking.

Note: The addition of mayonnaise helps the patties hold their shape and prevents them from becoming too dry.
