Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup butterscotch chips
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- Prepare Wet Ingredients: In a separate large bowl, mix melted butter and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
- Combine & Fold: Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Fold in the butterscotch chips and nuts (if using).
- Bake: Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool & Serve: Let the bars cool completely before cutting into squares.
