Wonton Soup Recipe
Ingredients
- 8 ounces ground pork
- 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 24 square wonton wrappers (3½ inches each)
- 6 cups chicken broth (1,440g)
- 1½ teaspoons minced garlic
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 2-3 green onions, finely chopped
Preparation
- Prepare the Wontons: In a large bowl, combine ground pork, rice wine vinegar, soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, brown sugar, and finely chopped green onions. Mix thoroughly. Place a heaping teaspoon of filling in the center of each wonton wrapper. Moisten the edges with water, fold the corners together to form a triangle, and press out any excess air. Lift the long edge of the wonton slightly, then wrap the edges in opposite directions and press firmly to seal, creating a small space with your finger and moistening the edges as needed. Continue with the remaining wontons and set them aside.
- Prepare the Soup: In a medium pot over medium heat, combine chicken broth, minced garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, and finely chopped green onions. In a separate large pot, bring about 4 quarts of water to a boil. Add the wontons to the boiling water and cook for 5 minutes. Strain the wontons and add them to the warm broth mixture.
- Serve: Ladle the soup into bowls and serve warm.
Enjoy your delicious wonton soup!
