Timeless Classic Cheesecake Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups crushed graham crackers
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Oven and Pan: Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C). Lightly grease a 9-inch springform pan with butter or nonstick cooking spray to ensure easy release.
  2. Create the Crust: In a medium bowl, combine the crushed graham crackers, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, and melted butter. Stir until the crumbs are evenly moistened. Firmly press the mixture into the bottom of the prepared springform pan, creating an even layer. Bake for 10 minutes in the preheated oven, then remove and set aside to cool.
  3. Make the Filling: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar together until smooth and creamy.
  4. Incorporate the Eggs: Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Be sure to scrape down the sides of the bowl to ensure a well-blended mixture.
  5. Add Flavor: Mix in the vanilla extract, sour cream, and all-purpose flour until the filling reaches a smooth and uniform consistency.
  6. Assemble the Cheesecake: Pour the cheesecake batter over the cooled crust in the springform pan. Use a spatula to spread it evenly across the pan.
  7. Bake: Place the springform pan on a baking sheet to catch any potential drips. Bake the cheesecake in the preheated oven for 55 to 60 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center still jiggles slightly when gently shaken.
  8. Cool Gradually: Turn off the oven, crack the door open, and leave the cheesecake inside for about an hour. This gradual cooling helps prevent cracks.
  9. Refrigerate: Once the cheesecake has cooled to room temperature, cover it and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow it to set completely.
  10. Serve: Before serving, run a knife around the edge of the cheesecake to loosen it from the pan. Release the springform and transfer the cheesecake to a serving plate. Cut into slices and serve chilled. For an extra touch, top each slice with whipped cream, fresh berries, or a drizzle of caramel or chocolate sauce.

Enjoy your perfectly crafted, classic homemade cheesecake!
