Experience the essence of a carnival right in your kitchen with this straightforward funnel cake recipe. Ready in just 15 minutes on the stovetop, this recipe requires neither a funnel nor a deep fryer.

Ingredients:

  • 8 cups vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1 ½ cups milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup confectioners’ sugar

Instructions:

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or heavy skillet to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the milk and eggs. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring until smooth.
  3. Cover the funnel opening with one hand, and pour 1 cup of the batter into it.
  4. Begin in the center of the pan, creating a swirling motion to form a 6- to 7-inch round shape.
  5. Fry the batter on both sides until golden brown. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  6. Dust with confectioners’ sugar and serve warm.
