Spanakopita
Spanakopita
Ingredients:
- 1 egg
- 125 ml (½ cup) milk
- 125 ml (⅔ cup) vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Fresh spinach, chopped
- Feta cheese, crumbled
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 3 sheets of filo dough
- Poppy seeds
- 1 egg yolk
Preparation:
- In a bowl, combine the egg, milk, vegetable oil, water, and salt. Mix well.
- Lay out one sheet of filo dough on a clean surface. Brush a thin layer of the egg mixture over the entire sheet. Repeat this process with the remaining two sheets of filo dough, layering each one with the egg mixture.
- In a separate bowl, mix the chopped spinach and crumbled feta cheese. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Evenly spread the spinach and feta mixture over the layered filo dough.
- Roll the filo dough from one end to the other, creating a tight strip. Cut the rolled dough into triangles and place them on a baking sheet.
- Brush each triangle with egg yolk and sprinkle with poppy seeds.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) for 15 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
