Buttermilk Pie Recipe

Buttermilk Pie

Ingredients:

  • 1 3/4 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick), at room temperature
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon buttermilk
  • 1 (9-inch) unbaked pie shell

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the sugar and butter until well combined and smooth.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  4. Mix in the vanilla extract, salt, and flour until fully incorporated.
  5. Stir in the buttermilk until the filling is well blended.
  6. Place the unbaked pie shell on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil to catch any potential overflow.
  7. Pour the buttermilk filling into the pie shell, filling it to the top. If there is any remaining filling, pour it into an ungreased custard cup.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes, or until the pie is set and golden brown.
  9. Remove the pie from the oven and allow it to cool almost completely before serving.
  10. Store any leftovers covered in the refrigerator.
