Buttermilk Pie
Ingredients:
- 1 3/4 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick), at room temperature
- 3 large eggs
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon buttermilk
- 1 (9-inch) unbaked pie shell
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the sugar and butter until well combined and smooth.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Mix in the vanilla extract, salt, and flour until fully incorporated.
- Stir in the buttermilk until the filling is well blended.
- Place the unbaked pie shell on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil to catch any potential overflow.
- Pour the buttermilk filling into the pie shell, filling it to the top. If there is any remaining filling, pour it into an ungreased custard cup.
- Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes, or until the pie is set and golden brown.
- Remove the pie from the oven and allow it to cool almost completely before serving.
- Store any leftovers covered in the refrigerator.
