How to Make a Famous Pound Cake
Ingredients:
- 1 box Duncan Hines butter recipe cake mix
- 1 cup cake flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup sour cream, at room temperature
- 1 stick butter, at room temperature
- 5 eggs, at room temperature
- 1/4 cup oil
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon butter flavoring
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
Instructions:
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Step 2: Generously grease a tube or bundt pan with Baker’s Joy or a non-stick spray.
Step 3: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, cake flour, sugar, sour cream, butter, eggs, oil, water, vanilla extract, butter flavoring, and almond extract. Blend until smooth, being careful not to overmix.
Step 4: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 55 to 65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 to 15 minutes before inverting onto a serving dish.
Step 5: While the cake is cooling, whisk together powdered sugar and lemon juice to a thick, nectar-like consistency for the glaze.
Step 6: Pour the glaze over the warm cake a little at a time, spreading with the back of a spoon to allow it to soak in.
Step 7: Slice and serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy!
